FORUM NEWSThe Second Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF-2011)27.04.2011The 2nd Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF-2011) is to take place on 12 May 2011 at Expocentr Krasnaya Presnya in Moscow. RIGF-2011 is co-sponsored by the Coordination Center for ccTLD .RU and the RF Ministry of Telecommunications and Mass Media. The Russian Internet Governance Forum will be held for the second time. In 2010, RIGF became the groundbreaking event of this kind not only for Russia but Eastern Europe too, and the Forum’s association with the global IGF played an important role. The IGF regularly provides a platform for leading representatives of the Internet community, governments and business community to interact. Russia’s first IGF, with its 500-plus participants of whom more than 100 ones were from overseas, was up to the world community’s expectations and the nation’s profile in the global Internet. RIGF-2011 will deal with fundamentals of Internet governance in Europe and the CIS countries, and prospects of the Internet’s development.
The audience will be formed by representatives the RF Government, the national business community, the expert community, as well as prominent foreign experts. For example, a special keynote address will be given by David Farber, the patriarch of the Internet professor at the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University RIGF-2011 will also be attended by Peter Dengate Thrush, Chairman of the Board of ICANN; Markus Kummer, ISOC Vise President of Public Policy; Jovan Kurbalija, Director of Diplo Foundation, author of “Internet Governance”; Bertrand de la Chapelle, Program Director of the International Diplomatic Academy , member of the Board of ICANN; Dona Scola, Deputy Minister of Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Moldova; Mikhail Yakushev, Co-Chairman of the Working Group of the Council of Europe on Cross-Border Internet; Andrey Kolesnikov, Director of the Coordination Center for ccTLD .RU, among others. |
