Rod Beckstrom sent to the RIGF’s participants a welcoming address

On 12 May 2011 the 2nd Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF-2011) is to open at Expocentr Krasnaya Presnya. On the eve of the Forum, Rod Beckstrom, the ICANN President and CEO, sent to its participants a welcoming address.

In his address, he noted that over the last year the Internet’s landscape has changed dramatically: the launch of IDN TLDs started in 2010 and the Russian Cyrillic domain .РФ was the 4th IDN TLD delegated by ICANN, and today already 17 such domains operate on the Internet and offer their users greater choice and big opportunities.

Welcoming the participants of the 2nd Russian Internet Governance Forum, Rod Beckstrom called RIGF a cornerstone in the expansion of the Internet in Russia and world over and wished its organizers and participants every success with the Forum.
